Namu-myoho-renge-kyo (南無妙法蓮華経) is a Japanese phrase that is chanted in Nichiren Buddhism. It is made up of five Chinese characters pronounced in Japanese: myō, hō, ren, ge, and kyō. The phrase can be translated to mean "I take refuge in the Lotus of the Wonderful Law", "Devotion to the Mystic Law of the Lotus Sutra", or "Glory to the Dharma of the Lotus Sutra".
